Dead Signal: Ghost Run Origin

06/28/2026

Over the past several entries, Life is a Storm has taken a different direction. The series titled The In-Between has been my attempt to better understand what may exist beyond this life. Not necessarily where we ultimately end up, but the phase in between—the unseen, the transition, and the questions that have fascinated humanity for generations.

As I continued reading articles, watching videos, and exploring different perspectives, I kept running into the same thing: pages that wouldn't load, weak connections, and dead signals. It almost felt symbolic. Here I was searching for answers while struggling to establish a connection.

During one of those moments, the familiar little T-Rex game appeared while there was no internet connection.

That's when a thought crossed my mind.

"This belongs in the Life is a Storm world."

Not the dinosaur itself, but the concept.

What if, instead of a dinosaur running through a desert, it became a lonely ghost making its way through an old cemetery? What if the obstacles reflected mortality instead of cacti? What if the atmosphere carried the same themes that have been finding their way into these recent blog entries?

That simple idea eventually became Ghost Run.

For me, Ghost Run is more than just a small browser game. It's a tribute to a music identity that is very near and dear to my heart: Apex Fall.

If you've spent any time reading Life is a Storm, you'll probably recognize many of the same themes. According to the artist's biography, the music is rooted in lived experiences rather than fabricated stories—deep pain, grief, heartbreak, navigating a life that has been turned upside down, self-reflection, messy circumstances, and even the contemplation of unaliving oneself. Those are difficult subjects, but they're also real subjects for many people.

The music hasn't officially surfaced yet, but the Music Coming Soon page is already online, so I'm guessing new releases won't be too far away.

If you'd like to learn more, visit ApexFall.Music. You'll find links to all of the project's social media on the Contact page.

Looking back, it seems fitting that this all grew out of The In-Between. One creative project quietly led to another. My books led to this blog. The blog led to questions. Those questions became The In-Between. Somewhere along that journey, Ghost Run emerged as another way to explore many of those same ideas through an interactive experience.

It took me a full day to bring the dead to life, but it was worth it.

Thank you, as always, for taking this journey with me. Whether you're here for the writing, the questions, the books, the music, or now even a small game, I truly appreciate you spending a little of your time here, inside the eye of my storm.
