Flowers Within the Fog — Part One

Image
06/23/2026 I woke today the king of nothing. On my mind was death. Not as something final but as something else. A relief. I went to bed around 8:30 a.m. after a dose of zolpidem. Work sucked. Not because of the work itself but because of the graveyard hours. Graveyards. Somewhere I always seem to end up. I ended up having to fight off mosquitoes once again on my way in through the front door. I got inside and checked on Lily. Yes, her name is spelled differently than the last entry. That's a new development I'm planning on sharing in a bit. Before the pill did its thing, I called the city to see what was up with them not spraying. Every night I'm walking through a cloud of mosquitoes. I didn't get anyone, but I left one hell of a message. The type that sounds like a drunk person calling in the middle of the night trying to make a point. I probably repeated a lot of the same stuff in different ways, but Ambien is to blame. I also made sure to ment...

Still Blurry

06/22/2026 I t's 4:55 in the afternoon, and somehow a trip to the chiropractor and a massage ended with a cat sleeping in my laundry room. The fog hasn't lifted yet. This is where I'm at now. Yesterday started with exhaustion, back pain, and a desperate attempt to find some relief. After getting off work at 7 a.m., I waited for the chiropractor to open. Later, I waited again for a massage appointment. I wasn't even sure what was causing all the pain, only that something wasn't right. The chiropractor helped, but the massage released tension I didn't realize I had been carrying. Before going into the mall, I noticed a small group of workers gathered around a cat. One of them was holding her closely and loving on her. A few days before all of this, I had written a song for Monkey because I felt he deserved one. Standing there outside the mall, I found myself singing that same song to the cat. As I watched her, a few things became obvious. She wasn...

Missing Days I t's 5:31 a.m. and I've been having difficulty with my sleep patterns... The graveyards aren't for me. Not even the real ones, but the ones where I have to work during the typical graveyard shifts. I'm not made for it. This is temporary. I've been having trouble with eating patterns, eating what I need to, watching my blood sugar, and trying to keep myself together physically while adjusting to these schedules. Yesterday I had taken a prescription sleeping pill along with a muscle relaxer. It still wasn't enough because my sleep pattern is so far off. Eventually I followed it up with over-the-counter sleeping medication. By that point I was loaded with all kinds of sedatives and still spent most of the day staring at the ceiling exhausted before finally getting some sleep. Now it's 5:33 a.m. and I'm awake because this has become my daytime. Being awake all night is something I can't do, but it's something I plan on doing ...

Storm Log Notice: Entries are added here as the storm unfolds. Storm Log Archive May 15, 2026 – May 31, 2026 05/15/2026 R estless night. One of those nights where sleep technically happens, but not in any meaningful way. Tossing. Turning. Waking. Drifting. Repeating. Around 8:20 a.m., I woke up feeling physically fatigued before the day had even started. There was that familiar ache in my chest again—the emotional kind, not the kind that sends you to the ER, but the kind that sits heavy enough to make even getting out of bed feel difficult. I hate how familiar that feeling has become. By 9:05 a.m., I was still in bed, researching attachment theory videos and trying to understand dynamics that have become painfully relevant. I had no real plan for the day. Part of me considered going to Cole Park off Ocean Drive, but that place carries too much history with someone I care about. It felt too loaded. The beach park I’ve been going to lately felt safer. Le...
